MONEY: TIME TO ROLL UP OUR SLEEVES

Posted on: Mon 01 Mar 2010

After their unbeaten run of 10 games without defeat away from Kenilworth Road was ended at Crawley Town on Saturday the Town face a tough task to get back to winning ways at play-off rivals Mansfield Town on Tuesday night.

Two consecutive defeats in the Blue Square Premier has damaged the Town's title chances and a third tomorrow could dent their chances of a top five place against a Mansfield side harbouring promotion aspirations themselves.

And after a run of taking just one point from the last nine available, Richard Money has called for his side to "roll up their sleeves" and get back on track as they look to secure a play-off place in the division.

"We have to roll up our sleeves and go and again," Money said at his pre-match press conference on Monday afternoon.

"We've got to pull things together and get the team the way we want it. In the final third of the season we've got to push on.

"We are still aiming to get as many points as possible as we need to cement our position in the league."

Looking back on the weekend's disappointing reverse at the Broadfield Stadium the Town chief admitted that he perhaps should have brought on strikers Liam Hatch and goalscorer Matthew Barnes-Homer earlier.

"In hindsight I perhaps should have," he said. "But we had kept eight clean sheets away from home. That's a statistic that people seem to have forgotten.

"So why should I have done anything different?

"People think I am a negative person and I am far from it. We'd all love to have all of our strikers on the pitch but it is in other areas of the pitch which we need to get right first."

Promotion rivals Mansfield also need the points just as much as the Hatters do and Money has warned that his side must improve from Saturday's showing if they are to earn anything at Field Mill.

"Mansfield are a big and strong team and we must meet that," he said. "They have a large squad to choose from.

"They will see it as a big game as they are on of the sides who will suffer in the league table should their six points from two wins over Chester be wiped out."

Captain Kevin Nicholls is one man who won't be featuring tomorrow evening after the 31-year-old picked up a knee injury at the weekend.

He joins Ryan Charles and Lewis Emanuel on the sidelines.

And Money revealed that he has picked his team for tomorrow's clash but would not - for obvious reasons - be unveiling it until before kick-off.
