MONEY: JUST ANOTHER GAME
It's being billed as the biggest game of the season in the Blue Square Premier but Hatters boss Richard Money is keeping his feet firmly on the floor ahead of league leaders Oxford United's visit on Tuesday.
After securing three valuable points from a testing trip to Barrow on Saturday the Town chief believes they face a similarly difficult task against Chris Wilder's men at Kenilworth Road.
"We're looking for three points," he said talking at his pre-match press conference. "We won't get anything more for beating Oxford than we did for beating Barrow or we will if we beat Eastbourne.
"If anyone thinks tomorrow's game will be more difficult than Barrow away then they are sadly mistaken. That's the way we feel.
"It's a home game and we've been patchy on our own turf and we need to put it right.
"Whether it's Oxford at home or Forest Green at home - they are all big games."
The match is the first in a run of six successive Tuesday night fixtures.
And Money is hoping that tomorrow's game can be the start sequence of league games that can get his side back in the promotion mix.
"It's an old cliché but a perfectly true one: we're taking every game as it comes," he said.
"We've got to concentrate on own stability and keep that intact while making sure we're still in contention.
"It's all we can do.
"The most important thing is that we're in that top five by the final game of the season.
"We have had opportunities to push ourselves back into that position recently and not taken it and we have another chance tomorrow.
"It's about time we grabbed it."
Oxford currently sit on top of the BSP on goal difference ahead of Stevenage Borough and while Wilder's side have been caught by the Hertfordshire side and York City in recent months, Money admitted his side will have to be on top of their game to earn victory.
"They've been at the fore-front of the league from the start of the season and have been able to maintain it," he said.
"The fact York and Stevenage have caught them up is testament to what those teams have done.
"Oxford's record is still pretty good. They're a good team and we have got to be at our very best to beat them."
With a full-house expected at Kenilworth Road for the high-profile meeting, the Town boss is hoping his side can win over a crowd that will want to forget the defeat to Ebbsfleet.
"It will be a big atmosphere tomorrow," he said. "It will be up to the players to get the fans on our side.
"We're well aware of that.
"You can't keep disappointing people and expect there to be no reaction. That's understandable.
"It's down to us a group to keep them with us and I'm sure if we do the job we're capable of doing then they will."
On the injury front the Town boss expects Claude Gnakpa to recover from the knock that meant he needed to be withdrawn at Barrow while striker Matthew Barnes-Homer could be involved after recovering from illness.
Ed Asafu-Adjaye could return to the squad after training on Monday but Kevin Gallen, Shane Blackett, Lewis Emanuel and Ryan Charles are all out.
Liam Hatch and Mark Tyler suffered no ill effects from playing 90 minutes on Saturday and are in line to retain their places in the side.
