The end of a long season comes to a conclusion tomorrow as the Hatters face a trip to League 2 Champions Brentford at Griffin Park where Mick Harford hopes his side can spoil the party.

The Bees will receive the Championship trophy after the match and the Town manager has asked his side to end the season in the best possible way.

"We'll go down there looking to spoil the party," he said talking at his pre-match press conference at the training ground.

"We want to finish the season off in the right manner. It will be a big crowd and they'll be a big following from Luton.

"The fans demand a lot of our players and it will be a competitive game and hopefully it won't be played out like an end of season game."

Harford will be without captain Kevin Nicholls and defender Ed Asafu-Adjaye for the trip to West London as both recover from knee and ankle operations.

Harford was pleased that the club's reserve team ended their season with success after a 4-0 victory over Watford won the totesport.com Combination East Division title.

He said: "We all know it's been an up and down season and we've had disappointed with relegation but winning another trophy is a testament the way the club is at the moment.

"The club has a lot of young players who have played in the reserves this season so it's a great accolade and a great achievement for this football club.

"It's a testament to the youth set-up and development of young players. There are some good players that have done well for the youth team.

"We put a slightly experienced team out to beat Watford because we wanted to win the league and get more silverware.

"Winning games and winning trophies bodes well for the future."

"It shows were are going along the right lines and going in the right direction."

The Town boss then turned his attention to next season's challenge in the Blue Square Premier and admitted he is looking at bringing in several new players to help the club bounce back to the Football League at the first attempt.

He said: "We have already spoken to numerous players. Players with non-league experience and players with league experience.

"We're looking at seven or eight players in a variety of positions."

And Harford hopes a number of the current first team squad will stay and fight the Conference cause next season with some players even hinting at taking a pay-cut to stay at Kenilworth Road.

"Some of the players have advocated that they'd like to stay. Others will look at it another way," he said.

"We just want players who are committed to Luton Town Football Club. That's what we want next season: a group of 22/23 players committed to the cause."
