THE MANAGER
Good afternoon and welcome back to Kenilworth Road for tonight's League 2 encounter with Wycombe.
Welcome also to Peter Taylor, his Chairman and Directors and supporters from Wycombe Wanderers who have made the short trip from Buckinghamshire for this evening's game.
We've had Wycombe watched recently so we know their strengths and weaknesses and although they are pushing for automatic promotion, we believe we are a match for any team in this division so we'll approach the game in a professional manner and look to pick up maximum points.
Since my last programme notes we have played Lincoln, Chesterfield and Barnet and have again been frustrated by teams intent on stopping us play.
From a positive viewpoint we have only suffered six defeats in our last 30 league and cup games and hope to continue this run which will provide us with plenty of momentum going into the start of next season.
Myself, my staff, the players and everybody connected to the 2020 consortium are massively disappointed this club has been relegated from the Football League.
The past misdemeanours by the previous incumbents have unfortunately caught up with the club and we, and you the fans, have been made to pay.
It's a very sad time for Luton Town Football Club, especially after the euphoria of winning a fully deserved trophy at Wembley that we now find ourselves out of the Football League.
I believe, with the backing of the board, and with this group of players, we will come back stronger as a group and as business and will not be out of the league for very long.
It's my job now to unite the players and give them the belief we can bounce straight back.
Conversations have taken place and it is my view we can keep this group of players together, who will continue to grow and develop as a team, which can only be of benefit to Luton Town.
Again you showed us great support in turning out in numbers at Barnet on Saturday as well as your tremendous support on Sunday when turning out to greet us on the streets of the town centre for the civic reception at the Town Hall.
The players and I have said it was in aid of an appreciation of your support at Wembley and throughout this difficult season rather than a celebration of success.
Thanks for your continued support. You are truly the best football fans in the country.
Keep the faith.
Mick.
