The Hatters' first match since League 2 survival became an impossibility will take place on Saturday afternoon at the Underhill Stadium.
Barnet's own future in the Football League had been in doubt after they flirted perilously close to the drop zone on more than a few occasions during this season. But an upturn in form since the end of February has seen the club rise to 17th in the table - their highest recorded league position of the campaign.
Paul Fairclough stood down as manager after nearly five years in charge at the club back in December. The Bees were in dire straights and replaced Fairclough with assistant manager Ian Hendon after the club failed to win a single league match for over two months at the end of 2008.
The opening six weeks of 2009 didn't provide anything more to cheer about for the Barnet supporters as their club slipped to 22nd in the table.
The breakthrough finally came eight games into the new year, in February. A convincing 4-1 home win against Bradford City must be credited as the game that turned their season around. This victory was then followed with an away draw against Chesterfield before back-to-back wins against in-form Rochdale and then Chester City.
Barnet are currently on a five match unbeaten streak - their longest run of the season - and in that time they've picked up three wins against tough opposition in the form of Gillingham, Rotherham and Bournemouth.
The two sides last met in December - not long before Fairclough was replaced - and the Hatters secured all three points with a 3-1 win.
Irish striker John O'Flynn, 26, leads the Bees' top scorer charts with 17 league goals to his name and has netted seven goals in his last 10 matches.
40-year-old former Luton and Chelsea frontman Paul Furlong is also enjoying a purple patch in the twilight of his career and has scored five times in his last five games.
Elsewhere, hardworking midfielder Neal Bishop and highly-rated 21-year-old winger Albert Adomah provide different attributes but are both vital components of the Bees' side.
Saturday's match will be the two clubs' first competitive meeting at the Underhill Stadium, and only their second ever match after December's fixture.
