MONEY UP FOR THE CHALLENGE

Posted on: Wed 05 May 2010

Town boss Richard Money has vowed to bring the good times back to Kenilworth Road after disappointment of going out of the Play-Offs at the Semi-Final stage to York City.

Two 1-0 defeats meant it will be the Minstermen and not the Hatters that face Oxford at Wembley on 16th May for a place in the Football League.

But Money, who took over from Mick Harford in October, told Hatters Player he is up for the challeneg to get the Hatters back playing League football.

He said: "I'm disappointed but at the back of my mind I'm already planning for next season.

"You've got two type of people: those that roll over and die or those that pick themselves up and go again.

"There is obvious disappointment but we planning for next season later this week to make sure we're full of steam next season.

"We won't roll over and die. The board are up for the fight, I'm up for the fight and we need players that are as well."

The Town will once start a fresh come August next season and while his side will no doubt start as one of the favourites for the title, Money believes the club will still find it tough next term.

"A lot of other clubs have large budgets and there will be a number of ex-Football League clubs in the division so it's going to be difficult, believe me.

"I don't think anyone will run away with it but who knows?

"We'll be up there but we've got a lot of work to do in the summer."

Some of that work will include the recruitment of players, none more so than those whose deals expire at the end of the campaign.

"Some players are out of contract and we'll keep some and lose others but as I've discussed with the players, whether they are in or out of contract, the question is, are they up for it?

"This league has shown that you can fall short and I know what it will take to get us where we want to be.

"We need to work hard and work hard in the summer. We've planned to come in June and work ready for July.

"We've been playing catch-up since I came to the club and while we've had enough to put our mark on things we've fallen short .

"But we need to make sure it doesn't happen next year."
