A delighted Richard Money revealed there was nothing spectacular about his half-time team-talk after he saw his side come from a goal down to score an incredible six second-half goals as the Town crushed Ebbsfleet United.
A Janos Kovacs own-goal had given the Fleet a half-time advantage but half-a-dozen goals in the second 45 minutes - with a hat-trick from Claude Gnakpa - sees the Town climb into second place in the Blue Square Premier.
And, as their grinning boss said afterwards, there was no panic in the away team dressing room at the interval.
"We were all very calm at half-time," Money said. "I thought until we went 1-0 down we were the better team and created a number of chances that we didn't finish off or find the right final pass for.
"Their goal rocked us but I said to them at half-time 'don't feel sorry for yourselves'.
"We got a good response and it was important that we got an early goal.
"To then score a second so soon was great and we've gone on from there.
"It was a strange day because the pitch was firm but it was slippery on top and they've pushed us back.
"But once we scored our second goal we were camped in their half and they found it difficult to get out."
As well as Gnakpa getting on the scoresheet there were goals for strikers Kevin Gallen, Tom Craddock and Matthew Barnes-Homer.
But it was always going to be the Frenchman that stole the headlines and his manager was quick to praise the Hatters' hat-trick hero.
"He's scored three excellent goals," he said. "The first was a fantastic header, the second a good cross from Jake and the third has fallen to him after persistent work from Tom which he's stuck away nicely.
"He had one or two chances in the first half with shots that went high and wide but he found his shooting boots in the second."
The Town boss also praised substitute Barnes-Homer on his first goal since the death of his father last week.
"Everyone in the crowd showed their appreciation and realised how much it meant to him to score today," Money said.
"The funeral is on Monday so it is going to be a difficult weekend for him but hopefully he's turned the corner now.
"It hadn't really happened for him but now we know why. Scoring will be a release for him."
With the Town now leapfrogging Oxford in the table to go second, they now lie just two points off top spot.
But, despite such as a superb result, Money is keeping his feet firmly on the ground when it comes to talking up his team's chances of automatic promotion.
"It's five wins in a row now but we need to keep going as we're well aware that we can't afford to drop many points.
"Our aim is to put as much daylight between the teams below us and Rushden have drawn and Kettering have lost today.
"Everyone else thinks it is between Stevenage and Oxford but let's see what happens in a few weeks time.
"We knew before Tuesday that Oxford weren't playing until Sunday and we were determined to come off the pitch today on 70 points.
"That puts a different slant on their game at Tamworth because they know they've got to get something to go back above us.
"We've scored 15 goals in our last five games. Let's hope we've found our shooting boots at the right time.
"We've done today what we should have done at Hayes & Yeading two weeks ago.
"We've done well today and I'm really pleased."
