Hatters boss Richard Money admitted he was "angry" with this side's inability to take their chances as they were left hanging on in the dying minutes to secure what turned out to be a narrow 3-2 victory at Hayes & Yeading United.
Goals from Liam Hatch and Claude Gnakpa put the Town 2-0 up before allowing the home side an avenue back into the game just before the hour.
Tom Craddock looked to have put the game beyond United to make it 3-1 on 74 minutes but a goal two minutes from time for the hosts ensured a nervy last few moments for the Hatters which did not please the manager.
"I've got mixed emotions," he told the media afterwards. "I'm pleased with the way we've played on what was a difficult pitch but I'm not sure what the corner and shots on target count was but to win 3-2 after looking so comfortable is an absolute farce.
"I'm angry because we've got to be better than that.
"We need to improve our goals for record and goal difference and today we should have taken advantage.
"You see scorelines like Eastbourne 0-6 Stevenage and we could have doubled today and that's not ridiculous.
"We could have won the game by a cricket score.
"It wasn't good enough. I said to them at half-time that two wasn't enough.
"We should have been out of sight by then and even after they made it 2-1 it could have gone on to to four, five, six or seven and we're - not left hanging on - but not comfortable.
While Money was pleased with two of his strikers hitting the target he was disappointed with their profligacy in front of goal.
"It was a good delivery and a good header," he said on Hatch's opener. "But can anyone tell me how many Asa Hall could have scored today?
"I thought Tom and Matthew Barnes-Homer looked exciting up front as a partnership but when the score's 3-2, does Craddock show enough determination to go through and make it 4-2? No.
"Then they break up the other end they almost equalise.
"And that's the difference. We've got to put someone to the sword and quickly.
"We've challenged them to score more goals and today we've let an opportunity slip."
