Midfielder Rossi Jarvis believes the Town's 4-1 victory over Eastbourne Borough can be the springboard for a successful second half of the season.
The Hatters had not won at home in the league since the beginning of October so it was a welcome boost to record a victory at Kenilworth Road with Jarvis adding the fourth Hatters goal 15 minutes from time.
"It was a good performance from the lads and hopefully after this win we can push on up the league," the 21-year-old told Hatters Player afterwards.
"It's been difficult for us recently because we haven't trained on grass as often as we would have liked due to the bad weather.
"Their goal gave us a kick up the backside which we needed really after not playing for so long.
"Luckily we scored almost straight away after conceding early on which gave us a boost to go on and win the game."
Jarvis scored his second goal of the season which equals his total from last season and is now looking to improve that tally.
Town's number 16 added: "It was good to get on the scoresheet, I don't get many goals. I've equalled last season's total now so I've got half a season to try and beat that.
"The ball came across to me and all I had to do was put it in the back of the net."
After the team moved up to seventh in the league following the 4-1 win, the former England Under-19 player thinks that promotion will only come if the home form improves.
"We know what we need to do to gain promotion," he said. "It would be great if we could go up as champions but if we can't then our main goal is to get promoted through the Play-Offs.
"We need to make Kenilworth Road a fortress so we have every chance of picking up maximum points every time we play at home.
"With the quality of the players we have in the team I'm sure that we will be fine come the end of the season."
