Happy Hatters boss Richard Money believed his offensive gamble to play with three forwards and two attacking full-backs paid off after seeing his side come from a goal down to beat Eastbourne Borough 4-1 at Kenilworth Road.

Two goals from Kevin Gallen and one a piece from Matthew Barnes-Homer - his first for the club - and Rossi Jarvis earned the Town all three points after falling behind in the sixth minute to Matt Crabb's strike.

"They say fortune favours the brave," Money said afterwards. "We looked incredibly dangerous and I thought Matthew, Kevin and Tom Craddock were almost unplayable at times today.

"The make-up of our team meant that we were very open but the brave selection policy has worked for us in the end.

"It was quite comfortable and I think the game will have done us the world of good.

"We haven't had a match for 16 days and sometimes players can slip out of that game mentality.

"It's no excuse but we trained for the first time in two weeks on grass yesterday for half-an-hour.

"Eastbourne played Boxing Day, so perhaps they were on it to start with but we improved as the match went on and in the second half I thought we put in a very good professional performance."

Money paid tribute to strikers Gallen, Barnes-Homer and Craddock - who played out on the left-wing - after the trio had a hand in three of the four goals.

"It was nice to see us put into practise what we've been doing in training," Money said.

"I thought we were very, very good. We're getting to where we wanted to be selection wise and we've been a bit unfortunate because Matthew has been cup-tied so he hasn't had the opportunity to play - it's been a bit stop-start for him.

"He's gone off with a slight thigh strain today so the weekend off because he's cup tied for Southampton will do him good."

The victory puts the Hatters a step closer to the play-offs at the half-way stage in the campaign having taken 40 points from their 23 matches.

And the Town boss is hoping that the 4-1 win can be the springboard for a successful second half of the season.

"It was important we won today," he said. "We've got 40 points and we're at the middle point of the season.

"We're obviously not where we want to be, because we'd like to be higher in the table, but we have games in hand and it's up to us to keep going from here on in.

"Games will come thick and fast in the second half of the season because we have had games called off due to the weather and from playing in the cup.

"But we can pick up points very quickly by playing Saturday-Tuesday, Saturday-Tuesday.

"As a group we have spoken about not looking too closely at the league table because we've fallen behind on how many games we play.

"We'll fall a further game behind because everyone is playing New Year's Day as we're in cup on Saturday.

"We can get the momentum going, and today has helped.

"Footballers like playing games and I don't see any reason why we can't be successful.

"I've said it before - we will have disappointments and we will lose games. The fans must realise that but once again their support today was terrific.

"6,500 on a cold Monday in December is superb.

"We're glad they're with us and if they can maintain that support - or better it - then that will be a real bonus for us."
