SCOTT SETS SIGHTS ON CHAMPIONSHIP

Posted on: Tue 05 May 2009

After Brentford's 2-0 win over the Hatters, the Bees' manager Andy Scott demanded that his players savour the feeling of promotion and aim to replicate it next season by securing a place in the Coca-Cola Championship.

The Bees were awarded the League 2 trophy after Saturday's game at Griffin Park after a convincing victory over the Town. Scott praised the attitude of his players and spoke of his pre-season plans and hopes for next season in League 1.

Scott told brentfordfc.co.uk: "I thought it was a testament to the professionalism of my players that they came out and did such a professional job, but then that's what they've done all season.

"Now we have to look at the squad and I'll take a couple of days off before deciding what needs to be done. Once I've got my squad in place for next season then I might take a small holiday.

"But right now I want Brentford fans to know that we are going to be looking to build a side which can challenge for the Championship.

"It was wonderful to see all the players who played their part back at the ground to get their medals. I hope they savour it and keep it in their memories and try to emulate it again next season."
