A disappointed Mick Harford sported a black tie in recognition of the Hatters' relegation to the Conference and vowed to lead the club back to the Football League at the first attempt after seeing his side lose 2-0 at Brentford.
"It's a massive, massive disappointment," said the Hatters manager afterwards.
"I'll remain positive and get Luton Town back where they belong in the Football League.
"I'm wearing a black tie today in recognition of the fact.
"We can't get any lower, we must bounce back. It's absolutely paramount we get back into the Football League.
"It's a tough league and we will be a team everyone wants to beat."
As the manager was giving his post-match thoughts, his opposite number Andy Scott and his team were celebrating lifting League 2 title.
And Harford admitted the party atmosphere inside Griffin Park made it difficult for his side to concentrate.
He said: "It's always difficult to come to these places when there's a lot of euphoria around the place.
"We didn't match them first half but in the second half we were better and it was a more of an even game.
"If we hadn't had conceded a goal from a set piece then the game would have petered out into a 0-0 draw.
"But well done to Brentford, they are deserved winners of the league.
"We had our day in the sun at Wembley and I've said to the players we want more days like that.
"We want to bounce straight back and win the league."
