TAYLOR PRAISES "TERRIFIC" FANS

Posted on: Wed 22 Apr 2009

Wycombe manager Peter Taylor described the Chairboys' travelling fans as "terrific" after Tuesday night's 1-0 win over the Hatters.

Over 1,100 supporters made the journey to Kenilworth Road to cheer on their team and witnessed on-loan striker John Akinde net a second half goal to secure all three points for the club, moving them into second place in League 2.

"It was a cracking atmosphere, we knew our support was going to be here and it should have been a cracking night to play football, so I'm a little bit surprised that a few of our players looked a little afraid," Taylor told wycombewanderers.co.uk.

"They (the Wycombe fans) were terrific, we were expecting that - it was nice turning up at the ground and seeing lots of Wycombe shirts, I was very pleased. I'm delighted for them; it would have been a nice journey home."
