Huddersfield Town's caretaker manager Gerry Murphy felt his side were worthy winners on the final day of the season at Kenilworth Road.

"I thought the first-half was very tight and both sides were battling well, but we were trying to get the ball forward a little too early," Murphy told Huddersfield's official website. "As a result, the midfield couldn't get up to support Boothy and Danny. At half-time, we told them to be patient and a bit more composed on the ball to allow the midfield to get up.

"James Berrett was poorly before the game and he tired, so we decided to let Danny have a free role in the hole and to put Jevons on. I thought that was the turning point and tactically we were better than them in the second-half.

"Jevo was fantastic when he came on and I thought his header for the goal was excellent, as was Joe's cross; he's one of the best crossers at the Club. Phil actually came to me ahead of last Saturday and said he was ready if I needed him, but I wanted to get him a reserve team outing first - he played 70 minutes on Monday night and looked good, so we put him on the bench today. Before he went on I told him this was his chance to impress and he did just that."

"I thought the back three played very well and we knew Tom (Clarke) would do a job; he's done well for us many times in the past and we were comfortable putting him in there. That's five clean sheets on the bounce now and considering that we were conceding nearly two goals a game before we came in, that's a real achievement.

"All the way through my spell in charge we've picked the best eleven players available and then picked a system to suit them. We've been working hard from Monday to Friday, with only one day where we don't have a double session, as I'm a believer that what you do through the week shows when it comes to Saturday.

"Losing Rob Page for today led to a very late adjustment, but that's football and you have to deal with these things. We had to stay positive in order to get the three points.

"That win today was for the fans and for their own professional pride. They all wanted to show the manager (Stan Ternent) what they could do and I think we benefited from that.

"We've done the job we were asked to do and now it's time for a good break. I've enjoyed every minute of it, but now it's time to hand over to the new team that will take the Club forward."
