BOSS: 'PLAYERS DESERVE CREDIT'

Posted on: Wed 05 Dec 2007

Hatters boss Kevin Blackwell was pleased with the way his players stood up to Oldham's physical approach during his side's 1-1 draw at Boundary Park.

The draw extends Luton's unbeaten run to six games in all competitions and sets them up nicely for two important home games - against Millwall and the FA Cup tie against Nottingham Forest.

After Craig Davies had put Oldham in front, Luton's Jaroslaw Fojut got the Hatters back on level terms two minutes later, notching up his second goal of the season.

And Blackwell was delighted by the response of his players following the continuing administration troubles at Kenilworth Road.

Blackwell said: "Oldham is a hard place to come to. You don't come to Boundary Park not expecting to be in a scrap. It was a very physical game.

"The lads have not been paid for six weeks. We are in administration, we don't know what is happening and the lads go out there and put in a thoroughly spirited performance like that.

"I have only got high praise for the boys. They were excellent tonight. We were well organised and we knew what we wanted to do.

"Oldham put us under a lot of pressure, but overall, I felt we matched them, we looked well organised, looked resilient and very strong. I'm pleased for the lads because they have deserved it."
