Head Coach John Carver was pleased with the response from Hatters players after collecting their first away point of the season against Yeovil Town on Tuesday night.

The Hatters certainly showed big improvements from Saturday's defeat at Huddersfield, as this 0-0 draw at Huish Park stopped a four away game run of league defeats.

However, Carver was quick to admit that the Hatters was left frustrated after missing a hatful of chances to win the game after dominating the first half.

Carver said "It was the old cliché of a game of two halves. I felt in the first half we dominated the game, which was pleasing to see after our performance against Huddersfield at the weekend.

"We were looking for a reaction and we got that from the players. However, when you get goals it can change the game and unfortunately we didn't get that goal.

"In the end we were hanging on, but we still had the best chances to win it.

"We know we have got good players who can get the ball down and play, but we asked the question of the players, can they go and compete with sides. We felt we did that tonight.

"We know it was tough in the second half because it was backs to the wall, but I felt we dug in there and defended really well."

There was particular praise for striker Calvin Andrew, who was handed his first league start of the season by boss Kevin Blackwell.

The youngster fought bravely as the lone striker, who replaced the suspended Paul Furlong, who was suspended for the game after being sent-off at Huddersfield.

"I think you have to give Calvin a bit of credit," Carver added. "He is a young lad learning the game and because Paul has the experience, people can see that his hold up play is really good.

"But Calvin did a lot of good things tonight and it is hard when you are up there on your own as Paul Furlong will tell you that.

"He tired a little bit towards the end because he hasn't had many games, but I felt he did a good job for us."

The only down side to the draw was the withdrawal of midfielder David Bell, who was replaced at half-time by Drew Talbot.

The former Rushden man suffered a rib injury and is now battling against time to be fit for Saturday's home encounter against Doncaster.

Carver said: "David suffered a bruised rib. We will have a look at him over the next few days and hopefully he will be fit for the next game."
