BRABIN: WE JUST DIDN'T DO ENOUGH

Posted on: Wed 22 Feb 2012

A hugely disappointed Gary Brabin believed his side didn't do enough to warrant a result as they went down 1-0 at Barrow at Holker Street.

Alex-Ray Harvey's second half goal condemed the Town to their first league defeat in 13 games to leave them further behind in the race for automatic promotion.

And the Hatters chief was left frustrated by his team's defeat having missed a number of first half chances.

"I'm very, very disappointed," Brabin said afterwards. "The least we should have left with should have been a 0-0. To not win the game and go home defeated is very disappointing.

"I can't put into words how I feel. Angry is probably the word. I glanced across at the supporters who made the long trip up and I feel sorry for them to have seen that performance.

"We knew it would be a tough game. They play very direct but we've got to be big enough to cope with their threat.

"The conditions didn't help and in the second half they put us under pressure but we haven't done enough to take the game to them.

"When they won the toss we knew we'd have the wind in the first half and that it would against us in the second so we had to make the most of that advantage in the first 45 but we couldn't.

"We didn't play to the standard we expect. Barrow got on top in the second half and that fired them up.

"It now makes it harder for us to win the league but we've got to keep going and we got to learn from tonight because it certainly wasn't good enough.

"We've got to be better than that if we've got aspirations of getting promoted."
