The Hatters can confirm that defender Alan White has left Kenilworth Road by mutual consent.

Centre-back White, 34, rejoined the Town last summer from hometown club Darlington, for his second spell after making almost 100 appearances between 1997 and 2000.

However, after 16 appearances in Hatters colours last season, he was loaned back to the Quakers until May, making 24 appearances, scoring one goal.

Town managing director Gary Sweet said: "Alan's decision to leave us was purely a football decision.

"It will allow him to look for a new club where he can ensure he can play regular first team football.

"It is a mutual decision that benefits both Alan and Luton Town.

"I would like to thank him for his professionalism, attitude and hard work over the past year and wish him all the best for the rest of his career."
