After impressing manager Richard Money during successful trials this pre-season, Czech duo Zdeněk Kroča and Pavel Besta have signed season-long contracts at Kenilworth Road, subject to international clearance.
Centre-half Kroča first came to prominence in the 1-0 friendly win over Kilmarnock with an assured display alongside George Pilkington and followed that up with a calming performance against a Newcastle XI in which the tough-tackling Besta also impressed.
Kroča, 29, has 169 league appearances under his belt in 10 years with hometown club Tescoma Zlín in his native Czech Republic.
Last season the imposing 6ft 5in centre-half was in fine, commanding form, scoring four times in 27 league appearances with the Letná Stadium outfit as they finished in second place in the Czech second division - a position - like the Town last season - that was not enough to earn promotion.
Besta, 27, meanwhile represented the Czech Republic seven times at Under-21 level and joins the Kenilworth Road dressing room after a campaign in Slovakia with Ruzomberok.
He began his career with his hometown side Banik Ostrava, and in a seven year period, helped them win the Czech league title in 2004 which led to appearances in the Champions League qualifying rounds and made a UEFA Cup appearance against Middlesbrough.
Town boss Richard Money was delighted to have secured the services of two players he believes will further enhance the quality and strength in-depth to his squad for the coming season.
"Make no mistake these are two players of the highest calibre," he told lutontown.co.uk. "We are extremely lucky to have them.
"Having Zdenek and Pavel in our squad boosts our chances of a successful season. Why? Because they are players who should be playing at a higher level.
"Besta is tough, uncompromising, a proper central midfielder player while Zdenek brings a calmness to the back four which will enable us to build well from the back.
"I am thrilled to welcome them both to the club and cannot wait for them to show the Blue Square Bet Premier what they're all about.
"It also shows how well regarded this football club is across the globe. Everyone is of the opinion that this club should be playing League football that's a view shared Zdenek and Pavel."
