"The best team won," was Richard Money's simple assessment following the Hatters' 1-0 pre-season friendly victory over Kilmarnock at Kenilworth Road.
The Scottish Premier League side were beaten thanks to Czech trialist Zdenek Krocha's header on the hour mark and the Town boss was full of praise for his side's all round performance.
"I thought it was a really impressive performance by the team," he said. "The best team won.
"It was a very technical game. We were tactically sound and defensively very well organised against quality opposition.
"We were thoughtful in possession, creative at the right times and showed some good movement which shows we can cope technically and tactically at that level.
"We play Altrincham in two weeks time in our first game of the season. Kilmarnock start against Rangers. That shows the gulf in position of the two sides."
Match-winner Krocha, whose header was a rare highlight in a game of few chances, left a lasting impression on the Hatters' chief.
"He came over yesterday and trained with us and showed tonight that he's a proper player," he said.
"I heard about him through a contact of mine when I was at Newcastle and he's recommended him to me.
"He showed tonight that he can cope at this level but you just have to question whether he can at Barrow or Darlington away.
"But you just don't know. If we played the likes of Liverpool and Kilmarnock every week we would let him leave the building.
"He's a great guy, with a nice personality and has endeared himself to the crowd and overall he was impressive. We've just got to weigh things up a make a decision."
