88 TRIUMPH EARNS TOP FIVE BERTH

Our unforgettable 1988 League Cup Final victory over Arsenal has been voted fifth in the top 50 League Cup moments.

Since this season's Carling Cup got under way, over 20,000 supporters up and down the country have voted for their all-time moment in the competition.

The Hatters' thrilling 3-2 over the Gunners at the Twin Towers on that sunny April afternoon will go down as one of the League Cup's most fascinating finals with striker Brian Stein scoring a last-gasp winner and Andy Dibble saving Nigel Winterburn's penalty with the score 2-1 in the Londoners' favour.

Manchester City's David Tueart's goal in the 1976 final against Newcastle was voted the best in the online poll.

Fellow Conference side York City also feature alongside the Hatters in the top five with the Minstermen's 3-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford in 1995 earning third place.
