It has been bought to the Club's attention that a number of banners have been positioned in the area surrounding Kenilworth Road, like the one shown below in the picture.
It is unfortunate that these have appeared and that they give the impression that an agreement has been reached on the future stadium location of Luton Town Football Club.
As we have stated on previous occasions, we would like to reiterate that we are in discussions with a number of developers concerning a future stadium and at this time no agreement has been entered into by the Club for any particular location, or associating the Club to any particular development partner.
Since LTFC2020 became custodians of the Club, we have maintained that our priority has been to establish financial stability, which is within our sights, we have been working long and hard to identify and assess possible options, how they benefit the Club in the long-term, and how each option secures the future of the Club for generations to come. Once we have answers to these key questions we will be in a position to shortlist options for final assessment.
At this stage it is premature to link the Club to any particular proposal, and on that basis the content of the banners is wrong.
Only once this assessment has been done, and relevant experts, supporters and partners have been consulted will we be able to progress to detailed contracts. This will enable a stadium to be developed that will truly benefit the Club, our supporters, and the people of Luton.
The placement of these banners - without the Club's knowledge, cooperation or permission - has led to a number of enquiries from the local community, supporters and, most importantly, facility sponsors in relation to our recent announcement for the new Learning Centre we are building for the benefit of the community.
We would like to clearly state that our plans for this excellent facility, and the funding we have gained, remain secure and unchanged - it will open this year; it will be located at Kenilworth Road; and it will be for the benefit of the local community, businesses and Hatters' supporters.
