HAMPTON & RICHMOND 1-0 LUTON TOWN
The Hatters missed two penalties as their final pre-season friendly ended in a narrow defeat to Conference South Hampton & Richmond Borough.
After an unbeaten record in shootouts last season, the Town failed to convert two first half efforts from 12 yards and landed up paying the price by falling to Lawrence Yaku's 63rd minute strike.
Firstly, Tom Craddock attempted a cheeky effort on 11 minutes when sending the Hatters' first over the crossbar after the striker had initially been fouled.
Then 21 minutes later midfelder Adam Newton suffered the same fate when he missed his penalty which struck the outside of the post.
Despite dominating the game for long periods the Hatters were sunk by Yaku's strike - minutes after the home striker had spurned two opportunities to fire his side ahead with chances on 55 and 59 minutes.
A number of second half substitutions, including outings for Paul Terry and Steve Basham, from manager Mick Harford, failed to turn the tide and the Hatters were left to rue their profligacy from the spot.

FULL TIME - Hampton & Richmond Borough 1-0 Luton Town. The Hatters have lost their final match of pre-season with a narrow defeat, not helped by missing two first-half penalties. We'll have reaction and match action to follow as soon as we have it. We hope you've enjoyed the updates and we'll see you next week at AFC Wimbledon.
88 mins - Tarpey again comes close. He beats the offside drive and is one-on-one with Tyler. However the striker tries to dink a shot over the advancing goalkeeper and the ball sails narrowly over the bar.
86 mins - Tyler comes to the Town's rescue again to make a superb block from Dave Tarpey's close range effort after the striker had out-paced White. Great save.
82 mins - Hampton sub Keiron Knight tries his luck from the right-hand edge of the penalty area with a dipping volley that beats Tyler and lands up nestling on the roof of the net.
80 mins - Tyler races out of his goal to cut-out another long-ball by the hosts and gets a kick in the chest for his troubles and is attended to by Harry Scott-Stackman. There seems to be no ill effects and the goalkeeper is able to resume.
77 mins - Make that two more - as Kevin Nicholls and Alan White are introduced to the action replacing Pilkington and Emanuel.
72 mins - Two more changes from Mick. Jordan Patrick and Paul Terry are on for Adam Newton and Keith Keane.
71 mins - Burgess tries his luck with a curling shot from the edge of the penalty area which is comfortable for the Hampton substitute goalkeeper Kevin Davies.
67 mins - Basham has looked lively since his introduction and after he is fouled on the edge of the penalty area, Emanuel hits a fiercely-struck free-kick into the body of Tanner who is brave to block the powerful effort. Then moments later Basham heads a Newton cross high and wide of the target.
65 mins - Could have been 2-0 Hampton. Yaku has another chance to run at the Town backline but the danger is snuffed out. Then Harper swings in a deep right-wing cross that flashes across the Hatters goal and is headed behind by Gnakpa.
63 mins - GOAL!
HAMPTON & RICHMOND 1-0 Hatters - They had been warned. Yaku latches onto a long ball behind the Town defence. He gets the better of George Pilkington before placing a shot low beyond Tyler from eight yards.
61 mins -
Third change of the afternoon for the Hatters as Steve Basham replaces Gallen.
59 mins - The Town are living dangerous and Yaku again should do better when sent clear by Quarm but the striker can only hit a poor left-foot shot wide of Tyler's right-hand post from just inside the penalty area.
56 mins - Good play down the right from the Hatters involving Gnakpa and Newton sets-up Craddock but the striker can only drag his left-foot shot wide of the target. Moments later Keane sends a piledriver over the crossbar from 20 yards.
55 mins - A great chance spurned by the hosts and a let-off for the Hatters as Lawrence Yaku heads straight at Tyler from point-blank range following Craig Tanner's hooked cross from the right.
51 mins - In keeping with the game so far it's been a subdued opening first five minutes of the second period. The Hatters are well on top but cannot find the killer pass.
46 mins -
Two changes at the break for the Hatters with Claude Gnakpa and Rossi Jarvis on for Reynolds and Howells.
HALF TIME - Referee Forrester calls time on the opening half at the Beveree where the Town have been on top but the score remains goalless thanks to the Hatters missing two penalties. Stay tuned for more updates in the second peroid.
45 mins - Don't worry we are still here, it's just been a quiet 10 minutes or so at Beveree - no more missed penalties...yet!
36 mins - Back come the Town as Howells swings in a cross from the left to the back post which is met by Newton who gets above his marker to head goalwards. It looks like the ball is going to fall the right side of the crossbar before dropping agonisingly over.
35 mins - Tyler hasn't had much to do in the Hatters goal and again he watches another shot sail over his crossbar this time from Francis Quarm from 20 yards. The ball lands up in the trees behind the goal!
32 mins - Last season the Hatters couldn't miss a penalty with three victories on spot-kicks but today is a different kettle of fish altogether. Newton steps-up this time but he suffers the same fate as Craddock and misses. This one is better hit than Craddock's but the ball glances off the goalkeeper's left-hand post and away to safety. Referee Forrester awarded the penalty for handball.
31 mins - PENALTY TO LUTON
30 mins - A lovely flowing move from the Hatters involving Emanuel, Howells and Craddock set-up Burgess to fire another shot at Ramos' goal. The shot is again well hit but Jeffrey deflects the ball behind.
25 mins - The Hatters are coming in this more now and Burgess fancies his chance from range this time when driving a cleanly hit strike from 25 yards that skims across the Beveree turf and is well saved by Ramos, diving down to his left.
22 mins - It's another good cross from the right flank this time from Newton but the awaiting Craddock is denied a chance at goal by the slightest of touches by Hampton's Orlando Jeffrey who does well to head the ball away from the striker looking to make amends for his horror penalty miss.
19 mins - It's been a very quiet affair so far with Craddock's spot-kick the only chance of note. However, Reynolds shows his ability to get up and down the right flank and delivers a good-looking cross that just eludes Craddock, Gallen and Burgess.
11 mins - Tom Craddock has been prolific this pre-season but he's failed to hit the target from 12 yards when making a hash of the spot-kick. The striker had originally danced his way through the Hampton defence and was upended but after dusting himself down he attempted a cheeky-chip and the ball landed up going over the cross bar. Embarrassing miss and it stays goalless.
10 mins - PENALTY TO LUTON
5 mins - First chance of a quiet opening falls to the hosts but it's off target from the Beavers' Ashley Smith has he tries his luck from just outside the area that flashes wide of Tyler's right-hand post.

Andy Burgess is in the centre of midfield with captain Keane Keane with Adam Newton and Jake Howells on either flank. Kevin Gallen and Tom Craddock are up top.

15:00 - The teams are out on the field with the Hatters sporting their new orange shirts. It means Hampton have to wear their sky blue away strip. Kevin Watson puts the lads through their paces with a short shuttle routine on the near touchline.
