HOWELLS PENS PROFESSIONAL DEAL

Posted on: Tue 02 Jun 2009

Tuesday was a day to remember for Hatters' 18-year-old Jake Howells as he signed his first professional contract at Kenilworth Road.

The left-footer, who made his first team debut on the final day of the 2007/08 season against Huddersfield Town at the age of 17, has been rewarded for his fine performances last season with a two year contract with the club.

It caps a memorable first season in football for the youngster who scooped the Young Player of the Year award and picked up a Johnstone's Paint Trophy winners medal.

Howells made his first start for the Town in October's 2-1 defeat against Darlington and went on to appear 36 times in total.

Despite not being involved in Mick Harford's squad of 16 at Wembley in April he still received a winners medal having played in all five of the Hatters' matches leading up to the final.

Later this week on lutontown.co.uk and Hatters World we talk to Jake about signing pro forms with the Hatters and his aims and ambitions in the future.
