HATTERS TO HOST RED DEVILS XI
The Hatters are delighted to announce that Premier League Champions Manchester United will visit Kenilworth Road for a pre-season friendly on Tuesday 28th July kick off 7.45pm.
Sir Alex Ferguson has agreed to send a Manchester United XI to take on Mick Harford's side ahead of our 2009/10 campaign in the Blue Square Premier.
The match with United will mark the launch of a new initiative set-up by supporters to raise money for the club's youth development department.
SoLYD - Supporters of Luton Youth Development - will enable Hatters fans the opportunity to donate funds directly to the club so it can development the stars of the future.
Gregg Broughton, Youth Development Officer at Kenilworth Road, was excited about the project's prospects of helping the club move forward.
He said: "The money we're looking to raise will help make-up the deficit following our relegation from the Football League.
"I'd like to thank everybody involved in kick-starting the project and for their support for making it happen.
"A similar project was successful at Norwich City and we hope our initiative is received as well as it was at Carrow Road.
"It is an exciting time for everyone at Kenilworth Road and it will go a long way to securing the long-term future of the football club."
It will be the first time the Red Devils have visited Kenilworth Road since David Preece's testimonial in 1995 and will invoke memories of epic battles against United throughout the 80's and early 90's.
Ticket details will be finalised in due course for this fixture so keep your eyes peeled on lutontown.co.uk for further information.
