NICO RECEIVES JPT FINAL AWARD

Posted on: Thu 21 May 2009

He may be hobbling around after a knee operation, but Town skipper Kevin Nicholls still had a big smile on his face when he officially received his Johnstone's Paint Trophy man-of-the-match award.

The inspirational captain helped to lead the Hatters to an epic extra-time win over Scunthorpe United at Wembley and was on hand to receive his accolade at Kenilworth Road on Thursday.

Paul Redding, manager at Johnstone's Luton decorating centre in Selbourne Road, was on hand to present the silverware to Kevin.

Johnstone's are also totting up the votes received from hundreds of Hatters fans after launching a Johnstone's Paint Performer of the Final award - voted for by supporters.

Because the Town boasted the biggest ever following at the new Wembley Stadium, Johnstone's thought it was only fair to get them involved in the company's official award.

Hundreds have already logged onto www.johnstonespainttrophy.com to register their votes and the winning player will be unveiled shortly, with one lucky fan getting the chance to present the award personally.

Johnstone's Paint Trophy brand marketing manager Tom Newton said: "We were delighted to be able to present Kevin Nicholls with his award. He was fully deserving of it and we were thrilled for him.

"The final may be a month ago, but we still have so much interest in the competition and we are engaging with Luton fans regularly.

"We asked them to vote for their man-of-the-match and the uptake has been phenomenal. We will be announcing who won soon and we look forward to our next visit to Kenilworth Road."
