THE CAPTAIN

Posted on: Tue 31 Mar 2009

The match against Macclesfield was always going to be tough, especially off the back of the game against Grimsby on Tuesday.

But we got our first back-to-back victories of the season thanks to Tom Craddock who stuck the penalty away well.

It was one of those matches that was more important about the win and the three points rather than the performance.

Teams continue to come to Kenilworth Road to play for a point and Macclesfield were no different. Only a few weeks ago Gillingham did the same - and at the time they were second in the table.

It's frustrating but maybe we should take it as a compliment that teams come here and play like that because are frightened to play against us, especially the way we're playing at the moment.

We've been saying all along that we need to keep winning so to win again, at Morecambe on Saturday, was fantastic and something I thought we thoroughly deserved.

When we went a goal down we knew we were still in the game, we didn't panic and carried on believing we could get something and in the end we got our just rewards with an equaliser and eventually the winner.

Once we got in front I thought we defended well and, barring a couple of scrambles, we held on to record our third straight victory.

To go to a place like Morecambe and end their 12-match unbeaten run gives us even more momentum going into tonight's game with Rotherham.

It was a good all-round performance and I thought David Livermore came in and did well considering he only started training with us on Friday morning.

He's left-footed which gives us a little bit more balance and he's competitive too which allows Asa Hall to get forward like he likes to do.

Everyone will be looking at this evening's game because it's well documented that this is our game in hand.

It's an exciting time and after tonight we have six games to play. We're not getting too carried away, but a win tonight will be our fourth in succession and we'll go into the cup final on Sunday in an even more positive frame of mind.

We all know what a great occasion Sunday will be. It will be a proud moment for me, the rest of the lads, the manager and for you the fans.

It's another thing to add to my CV playing for Luton Town. You have been through hell over the last three years so hopefully we can reward you by winning at the new Wembley.

But first things first: tonight is the most important. We must concentrate on this game before thinking about Sunday.

If we fail to put on a performance this evening all the hard-work from the last three matches will go to waste.

Your support this season has been fantastic keep it up tonight and get behind the lads.

Nico.
