HARFORD: WE'LL BE UNCHANGED

Posted on: Fri 06 Mar 2009

Hatters manager Mick Harford looks to keep the faith with the same side that drew against Gillingham for tomorrow's visit of Exeter City.

With the Town on a five match unbeaten run, Harford is in no mood to change the team following the good run of form, especially in defence after Tuesday's clean sheet.

"I'm not looking to change the team around," he said in his afternoon press conference.

"The defence has done really well. We've looked solid and defended manfully in recent games and when we get on the ball we're distributing it well, so overall I'm delighted.

"I'd like to keep the same 11, I like to try and keep the same team if we're doing well but obviously we get a few injury and knocks and players get tired.

"But we look after them in the week following this period of Saturday-Tuesday and they have a rest day so they get a good recuperation period."

The manager was pleased to reveal that Kevin Nicholls and Lewis Emanuel are now back in training joining the likes of George Pilkington and Ian Roper in his first team plans.

"Kevin's injury isn't as serious as we first thought. It was a neural thing rather than a hamstring problem.

"Kevin is Kevin and he's desperate to get in the team and help the cause for the football club.

"He's the heartbeat of the place and it's great to have him back in training as he's in good spirits and lifts everyone."

After Tuesday's slog in the rain against Gillingham, the manager believes tomorrow's match with the high-flying Grecians will give the Hatters another difficult afternoon.

He said: "Exeter are having a really good season and are in the Play-Off positions.

"Like us they have got a mix of experience and youth with the likes of Marcus Stewart and Rob Edwards.

"I know Paul [Tisdale, the Exeter manager] will get them to get the ball down and pass.

"That's like we how to play so it will be an entertaining game."
