HARFORD: IT'S BEEN A DIFFICULT WEEK
Manager Mick Harford could not hide his frustration following the postponement of the Hatters' clash against Rotherham United at Kenilworth Road.
Talking to www.lutontown.co.uk he said: "I'm very disappointed but it's been a difficult week to be honest in terms of preparation because of the adverse weather conditions and getting the team prepared in terms of where and when to train."
Harford was looking forward to the game with the Millers, especially given the fact that both teams faced points deductions in the summer.
He said: "With Rotherham coming down it would have been an opportunity to have moved into plus points.
"It would have been ironic to have done so against a team that was also given a penalty by the authorities."
After the Chester match suffered the same fate last week, it means that the Town will not have played since beating Lincoln City on 28th December.
But Harford said the postponements have given a number of the first team squad currently nursing injuries more time to recover.
"Players who have been injured, Kevin Nicholls and George Pilkington for example, won't be available but Ed Asafu-Adjaye will be back in the squad for Chester after a groin injury," the manager said.
And with important matches coming up thick and fast, Harford said Saturday's postponement will give the squad time to prepare themselves for a string of long-distance away fixtures later in the month.
"It takes the weight off a little bit as playing Saturday-Tuesday, Saturday-Tuesday is a big burden in terms of the travelling.
"We'll have to do Chester and Darlington, then we're off to Brighton and then we've got a big home game against Bradford on 24th January.
"We'll have opportunities to get to plus points - which we want to get to as soon a possible - but we'll just have to wait a few more days to get there."
