Alan, 35, said, 'I received a call from Big Mick and then met up with the 2020 guys. I'm really impressed with their commitment to youth development, and I can't wait to get stuck in during pre-season. There's a fantastic bunch of lads here with real potential and I'll be aiming to develop them into first team players. They'll know they've made it when they hear their names chanted from the famous Kenilworth Road stands!'

Alan, who played during his career for Newcastle, Southampton, and Fulham, was a favourite defender at Kenilworth Road between 2002 and 2005. He had previously played under Jim Smith, Kevin Keegan, Alan Ball, Graeme Souness and Dave Jones, before working with Mick Harford and Joe Kinnear.

Working alongside Alan in the position of Youth Development Officer, will be Gregg Broughton. Gregg has recently been working with the FITC team at Luton Town with Stuart Smith. Gregg will primarily focus on recruitment, financial control, and organization, and will play a role in coaching too.

Gary Sweet, md of LTFC2020 said, 'We're very happy that Gregg has accepted the role. He's really respected here within the backroom team and he's proved he is a fantastic asset.

We feel that we have a great team in Alan and Gregg, that are fully behind our cornerstones of youth development and community involvement. All of us at the club wish them the very best of success.'
