Luton Town FC ("the Club") have today been sanctioned by the FA ; Brendan Guilfoyle said "the joint admininistrators and their solicitors are shocked by the severity of the sanctions, specifically the points deduction for next season.

The Club's barrister, instructed by the Joint Administrators, made an extensive and persuasive case for leniency given that the Club disclosed the offences to the FA and co- operated fully in the subsequent investigation.

The Club and Luton Town Football Club 2020 Ltd (the purchasers) will give urgent consideration ,in conjunction with its legal advisers, to an appeal.

Inevitably, the fans, supporters and staff of the Club will conclude that the Club has been made a "scapegoat" at a time when it is ill able to suffer a points deduction."
