EDWARDS WINS FIRST CAP
Luton midfielder Dave Edwards came off the bench after 37 minutes to play for Wales in their 2-2 draw with Republic of Ireland. The former Shrewsbury man replaced Carl Fletcher in midfield to earn his first full cap. Jason Koumas had opened the scoring after 23 minutes but Ireland looked set to record an away win when goals from Robbie Keane and Kevin Doyle had given the lead, before Koumas swept home a penalty with a minute left to share the points between the two countries, who have not qualified for the final stages of the competition next summer.
Meanwhile Steve Robinson was an unused substitute in Northern Ireland's 2-1 win with Denmark. Former Hatter Warren Feeney netted for the home side to cancel out Niklas Bendtner's 51st minute opener before David Healy scored the winner.
Edwards, capped 16 times for Wales Under 21's before Saturday's debut cap at senior level, will now travel with his Welsh team-mates to Germany for their Group D match on Wednesday night.
Eight cap Robinson will also stay away on international duty as Northern Ireland play Spain in Group F.
David Bell was the third Luton player to get an international call-up this week and he is part of the Republic of Ireland B squad that will play Scotland B on Tuesday 20th November, in Airdrie. He will come across former Luton team-mates Kevin Foley in the Ireland squad, and Steve Howard, who is one of only two players in the Scotland squad from a Premiership side.
