Steve Robinson will be hoping to get one over on his former manager in Wednesday's Carling Cup encounter against Everton.

The Hatters midfielder is a big fan of Everton boss David Moyes, who as Preston manager paid £375,000 to take him from Bournemouth to Deepdale back in May 2000.

Unfortunately, Robinson never really discovered his best form at Deepdale, making just six league starts in two years.

However, the former Tottenham trainee has got the utmost respect for his former manager, and knows Moyes will be hungry for success in the Carling Cup this season.

Robinson said: "I know David Moyes. He's one of the top British managers in the country and a nice bloke as well, but one thing about him is that he wants to win everything.

"I think Everton is one of those teams that have always taken the Carling Cup seriously. He will definitely be putting a very strong team out, and it will be a big test for us."

The 32-year-old has played in a number of memorable cup games for Luton over the years and he is once again relishing the challenge of more Premiership opposition.

And with the Hatters holding a proud home record this season, Robinson is confident Luton have what it takes to book a place in the Quarter-Finals of the competition.

"It's always nice to be playing the big teams at Kenilworth Road. The surface is always great for good football and obviously Everton being the class team they are will be knocking it about so it gives us the chance to test ourselves with nothing to lose.

"We've just got to go and enjoy it. Hopefully it will be a decent crowd and they will get behind us."
