David Bell faces a race against time to be fit for Saturday's League One encounter against Doncaster Rovers, boss Kevin Blackwell said at today's press conference.

The Hatters midfielder suffered a rib injury in the 0-0 draw with Yeovil Town on Tuesday night.

However, Blackwell has striker Paul Furlong back from suspension and is set to be recalled to the starting line-up.

Definitely out for Saturday's game are Paul Peschsolido, Sam Parkin, Paul Underwood and Richard Langley.

Blackwell said: "Bell is another one to add to Parkin, to Peschisolido, to Hutchison, to Keith Keane - the list goes on.

"I've only got 19 fit players to choose from at the moment, but at least with Furls (Paul Furlong) coming back after his suspension it should give me another option up front.

"I'm not blessed with a full squad at the moment. We're going to try and give Belly as long as we can, but it doesn't look good.

"He couldn't move his shoulder when he came off the other night and you need to be able to move inside and out as a winger."

The Tuesday night stalemate saw Luton pick up their first away point of the season after four previous defeats on the road.

But the point wasn't enough to stop Town sliding down to 19th place in the table.

Now Blackwell is eager for his team to secure victory at Kenilworth Road on Saturday to lift Hatters' stuttering season.

He said: "Our home record has been very good this season. We've been playing well here and hopefully we can replicate that on Saturday.

"Even in the Bristol Rovers game (which Luton lost 2-1), at half-time they had only touched the ball about five or six times as a team.

"With the chances we carved out it could have been over at half-time, but that's been the case a lot of the time this season.

"I don't expect teams to want to come and play at Luton. With the ground we've got and the fans we have it's a hard place to come and get a result and I want to make sure that continues."

Sean O'Driscoll's Doncaster sit a place immediately above Luton in the table, level on points but with a better goal difference.

And they travel to Bedfordshire seeking only their second away win of the campaign.

Blackwell said: "They're a good footballing side and I know Sean likes to get them playing football when he can.

"But clearly they are a team that's struggling a bit at the moment.

"It could be a similar situation to what we had at Huddersfield on Saturday.

"There their manager put out a dogged side rather than a footballing side and it could be the same thing this weekend."
