Following Luton's impressive win over Sunderland in the Second Round, Hatters boss Kevin Blackwell is looking for a repeat performance in tonight's Carling Cup game against Charlton Athletic.

The Addicks come into the game on the back of five unbeaten games in the Championship and scraped into the third round after beating League Two side Stockport County 4 -3 in the final minutes.

With both teams showing good form, Blackwell knows his side will have to match their performance against Sunderland to stand a chance of knocking Alan Pardew's team out of the cup.

However the Hatters boss is confident his team is up for the job.

Blackwell said: "The boys are under no pressure, Charlton are in a good run of form at the moment so it will be another good test for us.

"Hopefully we can make it another great night of cup football at Kenilworth Road, but we have to try and make it one of them nights.

"I think you would have seen us beat any team here if we played like we did against Sunderland, that game showed the potential within the team.

"To do that for 90 minutes drew a lot of plaudits across the country. That result was looked at, dissected by many people and it reflected one of the best performances from a lower league side against Premiership opposition for many years.

"There is no doubt that when this team clicks it can play some top quality football."

It is expected that both teams will make several changes from their league victories at the weekend.

Blackwell, who has Don Hutchison (knee), Keith Keane (stomach), Paul Peschisolido (ankle), Sam Parkin (knee) and Paul Underwood (ankle) out of action, could give starts to Jaroslaw Fojut and Paul McVeigh.

However, Blackwell believes he will be putting out an attacking line-up as he continues to use his 4-3-3 formation.

"It is a very attacking line-up and I am very confident with that line-up.

"You don't class Dean Morgan and David Bell as defenders. I have also got forward thinking runners in the shape of Matthew Spring and Dave Edwards, who both want to get into the box.

"However, they have a role to play when we have lost the ball and if they do that they can be an effective defensive line-up as well.

"That is why so many of the continentals use it so effectively. It is a system that I have liked and used to good success.

With David Forde back at Cardiff City after completing his loan spell at Kenilworth Road, Dean Brill will return between the posts for this vital game.

Brill has been out of action since the win against Northampton in the First Round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

"The competition for places in the goalkeeping department needs to be spruced up a bit. Forde came in and did well; we are just leaving it like that at the moment."

On other movements at the Club, Blackwell said: "Sol has gone out on loan to Peterborough. He has missed a lot of games through injury and needs to get a run of games under his belt and this present an excellent opportunity.

"At the moment I have had one or two enquiries, but we have got six games coming up in the next two-and-half-weeks so I am loathed to let any more out at the moment."
