A superb penalty save from Dean Brill 15 minutes from time earned 10-man Town a share of the spoils in a feisty encounter at Underhill.
The Hatters' goalkeeper saved Paul Furlong's spot-kick after Sol Davis was adjudged to have upended the Bees' Albert Adomah.
And four minutes after Brill's heroics Town skipper Kevin Nicholls was sent-off after receiving a second yellow card following an off-the-ball incident.
Barnet had earlier taken the lead when Adam Birchall tapped home from close range on the stroke of half-time but the Hatters earned a share of the spoils when Rossi Jarvis equalised four minutes into the second half when lobbing Barnet goalkeeper Lee Harrison.
It was a typical end of season affair but the Town managed to hold on despite being reduced to 10 men.
For the short trip to Barnet Hatters manager Mick Harford made three changes to the side that drew 0-0 with Chesterfield on Easter Monday which saw them relegated out of the Football League.
With Mark Bower returning to parent club Bradford City, injuries to Kevin Gallen and Lewis Emanuel and Chris Martin serving the last match of two-game suspension, there were places in the Town starting XI for Sol Davis, Michael Spillane and Rossi Jarvis.
Barnet manager Ian Hendon included two former Luton men in his side in the shape of midfielder Michael Leary and 40-year-old striker Paul Furlong who had netted five goals in his last five games and scored his 200th senior goal by scoring the winning goal against Bournemouth on Easter Saturday.
Mick Harford said in his pre-match press conference on Friday that he was down to the "bare bones" with just 16 fit players to choose from but the Bees were in a similar state with Ian Hendon also down to a threadbare squad which included Mark Hughes named among the home substitutes despite carrying an injury.
It was a lovely spring day with a healthy following of Luton fans packing the terrace along one side of an Underhill pitch that looked in terrific condition
Barnet kicked off playing down the notorious Underhill slope as the Town lined-up with Ed Asafu-Adjaye at centre half with George Pilkington, Spillane at right-back and David Livemore and Rossi Jarvis supporting lone striker Tom Craddock.
Hesitation in the home defence almost allowed Craddock to test Lee Harrison in the Barnet goal on seven minutes but the evergreen Gary Breen was on hand to clear on.
A minute later a crashing aerial challenge by Leary on Asa Hall left the Town's midfielder pollaxed on the turf, but, after awarding the visitors the free-kick referee Whitestone booked Kevin Nicholls for his overreaction to the incident.
The Town had the ball in the Barnet net on 13 minutes when Spillane hooked the ball past Harrison from close range but the on-loan Canary was denied by the flag of the linesman after Livermore's header across goal was met by Hall.
Back came Barnet and Yannick Bolasie saw his shot from the left-hand edge of the penalty area deflected onto Dean Brill's crossbar after the speedy left-winger had beaten two Town players as he raced towards goal.
The Bees were slowly getting on top and the hosts' other winger - highly-rated Albert Adomah - came within inches from giving them the lead on 21 minutes when flashing a drive from outside the penalty area over the crossbar.
Neat play two minutes later from the Hatters between Keane and Nicholls set-up Hall but as the midfielder went in search of his 11th goal of the season he saw his shot screw horribly wide of Harrison' s left-hand post.
Furlong was using his wealth of experience up-front for the Bees and he almost had a chance on 26 minutes when rounding Brill but the veteran striker was denied by the flag of the linesman.
It was getting very competitive in centre of midfield, and, with Nicholls already on a booking, the Hatters captain was walking the disciplinary tight-rope and he was involved with an off-the-ball incident with Joe Tibiri that earned both players a telling off from the referee.
On 36 minutes Kenny Gillet drove a free-kick against the Town wall from just outside the penalty area after Hall was harshly adjudged to have fouled a Barnet man when it looked as though the former Birmingham youngster had won the ball.
Barnet spurned a great chance to take the lead three minutes before the break when Adam Birchall hooked a shot over the crossbar when well placed after the Hatters failed to clear Gillet's right-wing cross.
And a minute later Furlong tried an ambitious bicycle kick that sailed harmlessly over Brill's crossbar.
The Bees were certainly confident as they went about their attacking and it came as no surprise when they took the lead right on the stroke of 45 minutes.
Spillane fouled Bolasie down the Town right and Gillet's floated free-kick to the back-post found Breen who saw his header touched onto the post by Brill.
As the ball spun across the six yard box Birchall was the first to react to the loose ball, on the spot presented with the simplest of tasks to tap a controlled finish home from close range into an empty.
HALF TIME: BARNET 1-0 LUTON TOWN
There were no changes for either side at the break as the Town kicked-off kicking down the hill.
Three minutes in the second half Craddock got his legs in a tangle when well found by a superb pass by Nicholls but a minute later the Town were level.
Spillane knocked a teasing pass down the right-flank that found Jarvis who, after controlling the ball, was able to loop the ball over the advancing Harrison from just outside the penalty area.
There was now a buzz about the Hatters as their passing had shown greater urgency and accuracy since the break as they went in search of the lead.
Harford made his first change of the game on 52 minutes when he introduced Ian Henderson for Spillane and moments later Hall tested Harrison with a shot from outside the box that was comfortable for the Bees keeper.
A lovely move from the Town cut Barnet apart on 65 minutes when Craddock and Hall combined to send Jarvis scampering down the right-wing.
His cross to the near post looked like it was going to be turned home by Henderson but Breen recovered fantastically to block the ball behind for a corner which Nicholls somehow failed to connect properly with.
It had been the best part of 15 minutes since Barnet had even looked like threatening the Hatters defence but that changed on 69 minutes when Tabiri fired a shot from outside the area that flashed just wide of Brill's left-hand post.
On 73 minutes Harrison did well to punch away a right-wing cross from Keane away from the head of Craddock.
But with 15 minutes left Barnet were given a lifeline when Adomah was bundled over by Davis inside the penalty area and referee Whitestone pointed to the spot.
Furlong stepped up against his old club looking for his sixth goal in as many matches but the striker saw his left-footed effort brilliantly saved by Brill diving away to his right to keep out the shot.
The action was coming thick and fast and the referee was at the centre of more controversy on 79 minutes when he sent-off Nicholls for his role in an off-the-ball altercation with Bolasie who was cautioned for his role in the incident.
Down to 10 men the Hatters were still looking the most likely to win the game and two chances in as many minutes from Hall - with a shot that went over the bar - and Craddock with a chance he fired wide.
With six minutes to go Harford made his second change of the afternoon when sending on Sam Parkin for Craddock.
Referee Whitestone was now annoying the home support when the Northamptonshire official booked Breen for apparent time-wasting.
In the final minute Harford made his third and final change of the afternoon sending on Jake Howells for the goalscorer Jarvis.
Barnet went in search of a winner and Hall cleared the danger when a Gillet corner nearly found its way past Brill but that was nearest both sides came to claiming a winner as it ended all square.
