EBBSFLEET PREVIEW

Posted on: Fri 19 Mar 2010

FROM BOTH CAMPS:

Richard Money: "We can't take our foot off the pedal. We have managed to put eight points between ourselves and sixth place but we have seen in recent weeks what can happen to other teams. York and Mansfield have dropped points and suffered and it's up to us to keep going, keep the momentum and do as much as we can. We can't afford to drop off after getting ourselves in a strong position and, if we keep going, who knows. But all we're worried about is ourselves. We're not bothered about the teams above us."

Liam Daish: "They are coming into this ogame on the back of what has been a good run of results for them and it will be tough for us. We can, however, draw some confidence from the game earlier in the season and we will be going into this fixture knowing that we can compete with them. If we play our best, I'm certain we can finish the day with a win.  In truth, we are looking forward to the game on Saturday because we will be playing a game against a decent side with big support and it will be good for the whole club."

TEAM NEWS:

Hatters: Adam Newton trained on Friday and could be involved after recovering from a hamstring injury but the same cannot be said of striker Liam Hatch who is still unavailable with the same injury and has been laid low with flu. Illness has also affected Craig Nelthorpe, Mark Nwokeji and George Beavan, with the latter two training on Friday. Kevin Nicholls, Lewis Emanuel and Ryan Charles all remained sidelined.

Ebbsfleet: Liam Daish has been rocked by the injury to defender Dean Pooley while midfielder Gavin Heeroo is also likely to be missing with a facial injury sustained in last weekend's 2-1 defeat at Crawley.

The Town were chasing a fourth straight victory when Liam Daish's side came to Kenilworth Road on 30th January. And it looked like that might be the case when Liam Hatch put the Hatters ahead against his former club. However, two goals from Magno Vieira put the Fleet ahead shortly before the interval. Tom Craddock equalised for the Town in the second half but minutes later Moses Ashikodi restore the Kent club's lead and after Hatch was harshly denided an equaliser by an offside flag, Fleet held on for all three points.

Recent history:

Known up until 2007 as Gravesend and Northfleet, Ebbsfleet will be enjoying their eighth successive campaign in non-league's top flight having won promotion from the Ryman League in 2001/02.

The name change in May 2007 was followed by a football first in February 2008 when the club was taken over by MyFootballClub - an online community of members who bought at 75% share in the Kent club.

All members have a say in all of the club's transfer activity where they have the opportunity to vote to accept or reject any bids for the club's players.

The Stonebridge Road faithful have enjoyed several seasons of respectable finishes in the Conference and were celebrating a success in the FA Trophy in 2007/08 when they beat Torquay United 1-0 in the final at Wembley.
