CRAWLEY PREVIEW

Posted on: Fri 26 Feb 2010

FROM BOTH CAMPS:

Richard Money: "Crawley are in good form and up until last Saturday had taken 17 points out 21. They are very tough own on their own patch and it will be a real hard game. They still have Play-Off aspirations themselves and it just goes to show you don't know where you're difficult matches are going to come and tomorrow will be that's for sure."

Steve Evans: "Luton is a massive game for both clubs, two teams need a win which adds to a great fixture. It is not often we go into a match here at The Broadfield Stadium as underdogs but we certainly are on this occasion. Earlier in the season we got well beat at Kenilworth Road and could have no complaints about that, Luton were terrific on the night."

TEAM NEWS:

Hatters: Manager Richard Money has no fresh injury worries ahead of the fixture as they chase a 10th win on their travels. With only Lewis Emanuel and Ryan Charles injured, the Town will take a strong squad of 20 to the Broadfield Stadium.

Crawley: Red Devils boss Steve Evans also has selection headaches as he is boosted by the return to fitness of defener Glenn Wilson and striker Charlie Ademeno.

A brace from defender George Pilkington and one goal from Tom Craddock earned the Town a comfortable 3-0 win over the Red Devils back in September in what was the first ever meeting between the two sides.

Recent history:

If Hatters fans think they are well versed in the teachings of points deductions then spare a moment for the Crawley faithful as the 2008/09 saw the club deducted points for the fourth season in succession.

After winning promotion to the Conference as Southern League Champions in 2004 their first experience of points deductions came at the end of the 2005/06 campaign when they were docked of three points for breaching the annual players' budget.

At the beginning of the following season the Red Devils were close to going into liquidation but an 11th hour rescue bid enabled them to start the campaign but at a cost of going into administration and with it a deduction of 10 points.

However a flying start to the season wiped out their deficit and the West Sussex side were able to finish a creditable 18th

In 2007/08 the club were hit with a six point penalty for financial irregularities and last season Steve Evans' side were deducted one (originally four, reduced on appeal) for fielding an ineligible player but still managed to finish ninth - the best in their history.

FACT: The club have been deducted 20 points over the past four seasons.
