Team News

Luton Town: Loan signing Mark Bower goes straight into the Town team for tonight's trip to Bournemouth. A hamstring injury sustained in the warm-up in Saturday's match with Bradford keeps Keith Keane out of the Hatters' squad tonight and, following his sending off against the Bantams, Chris Martin serves the first match of a three-game suspension. Captain Kevin Nicholls and striker Sam Parkin are both pushing for starts after appearing as substitutes in Saturday's draw.

Bournemouth: Cherries boss Eddie Howe welcomes back midfielder Danny Hollands who returns from a one-match suspension. Lee Bradbury and Scott Guyett are set to miss out with ankle and hamstring knocks respectively.

Manager Preview

Mick Harford (talking to lutontown.co.uk): "We need to start turning draws into wins. It's crazy, we've lost less than some teams in the playoffs. It's the draws that are killing us. We need to be more tight and compact. It is a massive, massive game."

Eddie Howe (talking to afcb.co.uk): "Luton are going to be dangerous because they need to win the game. I am sure they will come here to attack, which should make it interesting. They have got a lot of strikers in their squad and will probably get men forward. At times this season, they have played with four up front so it should be a good spectacle."

One to watch - Steve Fletcher

On 22nd January the Cherries re-signed the local legend and talismanic striker who over the course of 15 years at Dean Court netted 105 goals in 581 matches.

The 36 year old left Bournemouth in May 2007, signing for Chesterfield before leaving Saltergate to join Conference outfit Crawley Town in the summer of 2008.

After scoring twice in 21 games for the Red Devils (he only started twice), he was brought back to the club where he is idolised, by manager Eddie Howe and played in the Cherries' 3-1 victory over league leaders Wycombe on Saturday.

Saturday's 3-1 win over Wycombe ended a run of four straight defeats for the Cherries but crucially lifted them nine points ahead of the Hatters in the League 2 table. That victory was Eddie Howe's first since taking over the reigns at Dean Court following the dismissal of Jimmy Quinn. Howe's first match in charge saw them concede two late goals in a 2-1 defeat at Darlington before losing to fellow point deductees Rotherham on 17th January. Over the Christmas and New Year period they lost games at Barnet and Brentford ultimately

Bournemouth wins: 23

Bournemouth hold a slight head-to-head advantage in matches between the two sides which has widen slightly in recent times as the Cherries have won two of the last three encounters. Over the past five years goals have always been on the menu when both teams meet. Having already drawn 3-3 this season at Kenilworth Road, the men from Dorset won both fixtures last term 4-3 at Dean Court and 4-1 in Bedfordshire. The Cherries also hit six past the Town in a nine-goal thriller at Dean Court in 2003.

The Hatters last win on Bournemouth soil came in April 2005 when Enoch's Showumni's late goal earned a 1-0 victory and put the Town a huge step closer to taking the League 1 title.

Last time at Dean Court

AFC Bournemouth 4-3 Luton Town - 22nd January 2008

This match was Mick Harford's second game in charge of the Hatters and after going 2-0 down inside 31 minutes things looked a lot rosier for the Town boss when his side stormed back to lead 3-2 with goals from Matthew Spring, Dean Morgan and Paul Furlong.

However, with a minute to go, and the score still 3-2, Luton capitulated and allowed the Cherries to score twice to give them them an unlikely victory. Sam Vokes netted the equaliser with 89 minutes on the clock, and at the death Brett Pitman struck a the decisive blow in injury time.

Referee - Steve Bennett

Top flight referee who has taken charge of 22 games this season showing 91 yellow cards at an average of four a game. Having taken charge of Sunday's F.A.Cup tie between Liverpool and Everton at Anfield, Mr Bennett takes control of his first League 2 game of the season. The last time he took charge of a game at League 2 level was at the beginning of the 2006/07 season.

And you have to go all way back to January 2007 for the last time the Kent official oversaw a match involving the Hatters: the 4-0 F.A. Cup defeat to Blackburn Rovers.
