MATCH PREVIEW: CHELTENHAM
Team News

Cheltenham: Midfielder David Bird (gashed leg) is expected to be fit for Cheltenham. Central defensive pair Shane Duff (Achilles) and Gavin Caines (knee) are also likely to be fit again.

One to watch
STEVEN GILLESPIE: Steven is a Liverpool-born striker who joined Cheltenham Town from Bristol City in 2006. As a schoolboy Steven broke Robbie Fowler's goal-scoring record for Liverpool Schools. Steven began his career as a trainee with Liverpool FC, going onto make regular appearances for the reserve team. He was released from Anfield in 2004 and was immediately snapped up by Bristol City. Steven was unable to break into the Bristol City team on a regular basis but fared much better during a loan spell at Cheltenham, during which he scored four goals in five appearances. Steven made the move to Cheltenham permanent at the end of the January 2006 transfer window for an undisclosed fee. He signed a two and a half year contract at Whaddon Road and despite suffering a couple of niggling injuries, that limited his appearances over the first season and a half, his importance to the club as a source of goals resulted in an extended contract in the summer of 2007. So far Steven has scored five goals this season.
From the boss
Kevin Blackwell:"We have got to get something out of every game because that is the expectations of Luton Town Football Club and their fans. What I don't want to do is put so much pressure on these games and say 'We must win this' and 'We must win that. The problem then comes that you can put these players under a lot of pressure and I don't want them playing in fear and breaking down. If you play positively then you will make a mistake, it will be a genuine and honest mistake. I can't keep throwing it down the player's throats that we have got to win each game because we need the money. We are setting our targets to get ourselves out of the relegation battle as quickly as we can."
Keith Downing: Luton have had points deducted for going into administration, but the quality of players they have suggests that they are much better than a bottom four team. We'll treat them with respect and they come to us off the back of a great result against Nottingham Forest so it is sure to be a tough game. The cup result will have given Luton's players a massive lift. I'm aware of the situation we're in, I know we're in a dogfight but we've seen the recent games and performance-wise we're doing alright. Obviously we need results and we've got a five game period over Christmas. I want to be out of the bottom four or close to being out of it by the end of the five games.
