DMITRI KHARINE

Posted on: Tue 30 Aug 2011

With 40 international caps to his name (for three different countries), Dmitri Kharine has been offering his vast experience to the Town goalkeeper since arriving at Kenilworth Road in 2004.

As a player, Kharine began his career in his native Russia with Torpedo Moscow before switching to city rivals CSKA in 1991.

His performances been the sticks had not gone unnoticed and in December 1992, a £400,000 fee took the stopper from Moscow to Chelsea.

During his time at Stamford Bridge, Kharine made 146 appearances for the Premier League side, helping the Blues to the 1994 FA Cup final where Glenn Hoddle's side beat the Hatters 2-0 at Wembley in the semi-finals.

After falling down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, Kharine moved north of the border to play for Celtic, where he featured 11 times for the Bhoys.

He left Parkhead to pursue a coaching career, but ended his playing days in non-league circles with Hornchurch before he took up the role of goalkeeper coach with the Hatters in 2004.
