Our Under 16 squad must surely rank as one of the strongest squads in the UK and are just one game away from completing their last two seasons in youth football unbeaten.

Several of the squad have featured already in senior football and performed impressively and the possibility of an incredible six trophies is still within their grasp.

Having already sewn up the League championship with a crushing 9-1 win over Hampstead they now face Southend United in the League Cup final in their attempt to retain the trophy and complete a second consecutive double.

The second trophy to arrive was the County Cup when they defeated our own Under 15 squad in a closely fought encounter in what was perhaps their toughest game in two years.

The 15's took the lead when Teighlor Pengelley`s strike could only be parried by goalkeeper Bethany Lake and Maisie Wyatt read the situation perfectly to follow-up and score.

This stung the holders into life and they were level within minutes when Candice Davies controlled the ball on the edge of the area to turn and send a rising shot into the roof of the net.

A whistle from an adjoining pitch then caused a problem that Stephanie Anes took full advantage of to smash her shot inside the near post to give the 16's a 2-1 half time lead.

The second half was a real ding-dong with chances at either end but there was no further score going into the last 15 minutes.

The 15's then piled on the pressure but could not get the final effective strike as several half chances went begging. With the challengers pushing forward in search of an equaliser, deep into injury time a long clearance was chased and controlled by Davies who rolled the ball into the far corner of the net to seal a 3-1 victory.

There has been very little league action with cups being chased but the outstanding highlight of our league matches was our Under 10's 4-0 win over Harvesters. Tyler Trussell scored twice and there were goals for Phoebe Brown and Lucy Hollamby.

The Under 14's missed out on the Junior County Cup having taken a half time lead through a wonderful strike from Georgia Hardy. She then added a second from the penalty spot after being brought down herself and all seemed destined for a Luton win at 2-0 with 15 minutes left.

A combination of pressing the self destruct button and a determined fight back from Crawley Green gave them the trophy as they scored four times to win 4-2 and our firm congratulations to them on doing so.

The 14's must now chase league and cup glory as they lie second and have a home tie in the League Cup Semi-Final.

The Under 15's breezed into their Semi-Final with a 7-1 win over St Albans City.

Katie Davis led the way with a hat-trick, Jess McKay scored twice with Teighlor Pengelley and Terri Petit sealing the win. They now meet St Martins in an all Luton Semi.

Finally, many congratulations to Mick Harford and his squad on a wonderful day out at Wembley last Sunday when over 200 of us cheered them on from behind the goal.
