The Ladies' first-team continued their promotion chase at Cambridge City but had to contend with some late withdrawals from the squad which meant that seven of the squad were aged 17 or under.

The youth did not detract from the quality though, as leading scorer Rebecca Kane broke down the left after 10 minutes and fired a low shot across the keeper that she could only parry only to find Candice Davies following up to score from the re-bound.

Sian Hall was making her debut in the Town goal and she did superbly well to claw the ball out from the top corner to prevent a City equaliser from a free-kick.

Luton dominated the possession in greasy conditions and extended their lead after 25 minutes when the ball was only half cleared by the City defence and Nicky Livingstone struck a powerful 25-yard shot into the net off of the post to make it 2-0.

Cambridge pressed the Town girls after the interval and it was clear that the next goal would be important.

Following a patient build up, Kane crafted an opportunity on the right and sent her cross to the near post where Davies rose to send her header crashing into the roof of the net to cap an impressive league debut with a brace of goals.

The scoring was completed in the last five minutes when the ball looped into the six yard box and Kane scored from close range to take her goal tally for the season to 38.

A 4-0 away win was very welcome as the top four chase the promotion spot with goal difference still likely to play a part.

A mixed reserve squad entertained Providence College from Rhode Island in a prestigious friendly.

This University squad are ranked amongst the top teams in the United States and this was a useful barometer of how a mixture of our own young players were progressing.

Although the Americans won the match comfortably this was a very useful exercise in defending as a unit during which the Town girls did very well.

The Under 16's unbeaten run now extends to almost two years as they crushed their neighbours Watford 4-0 to march into the League Cup final.

The Saturday U16 squad brushed aside Northampton-based Brixworth to move into second place.
