The First Team have produced their best start for four years in spite on being on their travels and having to reorganise the defence to cope with absentees and injuries.

A trip to Forest Green Rovers showed a significant improvement on last year's visit with many of the starting line-up from that game no longer part of the squad.

The newly-built stadium provided a nice backdrop to some fine football from the Town, who forced the home keeper into a number of saves to keep out efforts from Rebecca Kane and Tamzine Neale.

Luton conceded a sucker punch just after the break and then found it hard to get back in the game as Rovers fought hard to hold on, although Kane did hit a post.

With just 12 minutes left, Kane produced a cross from the corner flag that was met on the volley by Amy Summerfield to equalise. Rovers then began to lose their way and when a corner was not properly cleared, Cath Tomlin threaded a ball through to Kane, and she thrashed it past the keeper, who could only push it into the corner.

But when the points seemed safe, the home side equalised in the 93rd minute. Whether this was a point gained or two points lost is still a matter for argument.

There were no such disputes last week when Luton made the local trip to Chesham United, who held a previously unbeaten record against the Town.

A superb fighting team performance made sure of all three points in a 1-0 win with Rebecca Kane again grabbing the winner.

All credit to the defence which saw goal scoring Michelle Byrne at right back and left winger Lizzie Randall at centre half. She was partnered by 16-year-old Sarah Hawkins, who again showed her potential at this level. Becky Clark was again in good form on the left and keeper Nikki Duncan was only really tested once when she blocked a close range effort.

Town will now have the opportunity to build on their good start with upcoming home games against Yeovil Town and Southampton Saints.

There were winning starts for five of the youth teams with the most emphatic coming from the Under-13s, who were 5-0 winners at Hitchin Town. Georgia Hardy, Senel Chapman, Hayley Watson, Rachel Kosky and an own goal gave Town the win.

The Under-12s also hit the ground running with a 2-1 win over Harpenden. Trailing 0-1, they had keeper Chloe Wilding to thank for a couple of excellent saves before Kerry Keyte equalised following a jinking run into the box. The winner came in spectacular style from a free kick from Zhane Quashie.

The Under-14s were too powerful for their Stevenage Borough counterparts, winning
8-3 on their travels. A blistering start saw them notch six goals early on with double strikes from the three new signings Holly Sheridan, Mirella Tambini and Shanice Jimenez. Rachel Spendelow and Terri Petit were also on target.

We have two Under-15 squads this season and two very able teams they are too. The Division One outfit fell behind to Leigh Rockets but fought back to equalise through Stephanie Anes, who has recently signed from Fulham. The game was largely one-way traffic but the elusive winner would just not come. The other squad had no goal shyness at all, winning 6-1 against Hemel Hempstead. Grace Shiels and Sophie Mann both scored twice to add to a headed goal from Megan Palmer and an own goal.

Fight back of the week came form the Under-11s, who were twice trailing Garston before finally over-running them 5-2. Chloe Scott and Rebecca Reeve scored twice and again the opposition added to the goal tally.

Missing out were the Under-16s, who dominated Bedwell Rangers throughout but could not score the goals and unluckily went down 2-0.
