BARCA BACKED AT 5/1 IN-PLAY
Arsenal's Champions League dream may have ended after a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat at the hands of Barcelona, but many Hatters Bet customers would have been cheering at full-time!
The Catalan giants were heavily backed at Evens to win the game in 90 minutes, while there was also plenty of money for Barca at 5/1 on the Live In-Play Console when they were 1-0 down. Many customers also backed Sol Campbell to score the first goal, and his backers would have been doing hand-springs after the Gunners defender scored a towering header to land odds of 40/1!
Campbell's return to form was good news for England fans and, with encouraging reports on Wayne Rooney, the Three Lions are again starting to look like serious contenders at Hatters Bet's 7/1, behind outright favourites Brazil at 5/2. With other previous winners Germany (8/1), Italy (9/1) and Argentina (9/1) all prominent in the betting, it's no wonder that a '1st Time' winner of the World Cup is a 9/4 shot here at Hatters Bet.
Last night's game probably marked the final appearance of Thierry Henry in an Arsenal shirt (7/4 to stay at the club for next season) but, fortunately, we don't have to wait until next season to see him in action. Here at Hatters Bet, he's a 14/1 shot to be leading goalscorer at the World Cup (13/8 to be leading goalscorer for France), while France are 10/1 to lift the trophy for the third time. Ronaldinho may not have been at his best last night, but he's still 12/1 for the Golden Boot, along with his team-mate Leite Adriano and Michael Owen.
In Hatters Bet's Group betting, a tenner on all the group favourites pays out a healthy £451.52, but a less ambitious 'Group Forecast' bet on England - Sweden looks a steal at 5/4. There are bound to be a few shocks, so what about a turn-up in the 'Group of Death' with Holland pipping Serbia at 10/1. That would mean Argentina getting 'Less than 5' points in the group - a 6/4 shot (6/4 'Over 5' points).
Thankfully, England's group looks a lot less difficult, and they're 8/13 to top the group and 11/4 to get 'Over 7' points. To achieve that, they would almost certainly have to beat Paraguay on 10th June (England 4/7 to win in 90 minutes). Click here for even more World Cup match odds.
