Three matches without a win and one point taken from the last nine: the Town are in the need of three points this evening.
But it won't be easy as they make the trip up the M1 to play-off rivals Mansfield Town for what becomes a massive match for both sides in their quest for promotion from the Blue Square Premier.
The Hatters' proud run of eight consecutive clean sheets away from Kenilworth Road came to an end at Crawley on Saturday and with it a 10-match unbeaten away record.
So it's a case of starting all over again tonight at Field Mill against a Stags side not enjoying the best of runs themselves.
Four defeats from their last eight league fixtures has threatened to derail their promotion push.
Their form earlier in the season had, however, looked almost guaranteed to see David Holdsworth's men finish comfortably in the top five.
Tonight's match is the first of four successive home games for the Stags so they will be looking to get off to the best possible start and bounce back from what was a disappointing 1-1 draw at Hayes and Yeading on Saturday.
As ever our official bookmaker bet365 will have loads of markets available to punters wanting to have a bet.
Both teams' recent form is reflected in the betting with Richard Money's troops the ever-so slight 8/5 favourites ahead of the Stags who are a 13/8 chance. The draw can be backed at 23/10.
If you fancy a bet on the match then you are spoilt for choice: there are 23 different markets to choose from.

As always there is a plethora of punts available to fans who fancy a flutter on the Hatters' tonight.
The last time the Hatters met the Stags was way back on a warm Summer's evening in August. After going a goal behind the Town stormed back to win 4-1. Now, dreams of a 4-1 win at Field Mill tonight might be a bit far-fetched, and, therefore, a 66/1 quote about the Hatters doing that again isn't a total surprise.
You have to go back to September 1989 for the last time the Hatters won at Field Mill (4-3 in a league cup tie) but in league competition they are yet to win in this part of Nottinghamshire. And that's not a good omen. But, like on Saturday - all runs have to come to an end sometime.
So - the correct score tonight? Well, if the last seven meetings between the sides are anything to go by then we're in for goals. The last seven games have produced a whopping great 44 goals...so what's the betting that it'll end 0-0? bet365 go 8/1 that it'll finish goalless. Not a bad punt in our eyes considering both sides will not want to give too much away this evening.
From a goalscorers point of view, what about George Pilkington? He likes scoring goals in midweek and netted twice against Mansfield in the 4-1 at Kenilworth Road. A goal from a set-piece might prove decisive this evening and Pilks is always a decent price. And tonight is no different. The centre-half is 25/1 to notch the first or indeed the last goal at Field Mill.
Elsewhere, with Richard Money hinting at changes to his side, what about Matthew Barnes-Homer to score and the Town to win 1-0 in a scorecast bet? MBH came off the bench to hit the Hatters' equaliser at Crawley and will be itching to add to his tally in Town colours tonight. That combination is a 35/1 shot. It won't make you rich but I'm sure you wouldn't mind if you invested in a couple of quid at that price and it came off, would you?
Recommendations: 0-0 draw (8/1), George Pilkington first goalscorer 25/1, Barnes-Homer first goal/Luton win 1-0 35/1.
