SOMETHING-NIL TO THE LUTON TOWN?

Posted on: Tue 16 Feb 2010

Riding the crest of a wave, the Hatters go into tonight's important Blue Square Premier clash with York City chasing a fourth straight victory.

Wins over Barrow, Oxford and Eastbourne in their last three outings have renewed optimism of a promotion push around Kenilworth Road.

But it's away from LU4 that the Town have been most impressive. Eight victories from their last nine games on the road and a record seven successive clean sheets have propelled the Hatters into the play-off places and are now in the mood to catch Oxford and Stevenage at the top.

Tonight though the Town take on the team third in the BSP who will want to get back to winning ways after suffering their first defeat in 12 games against Ebbsfleet United on Saturday.

Add the fact the Minstermen have yet to taste defeat at Bootham Crescent all season and tonight has the makings of another fascinating top-of-the-table encounter.

Mind you, Martin Foyle will be without leading goalscorer Richard Brodie...The striker has notched an ultra-impressive 27 goals already this term but is suspended tonight after being dismissed at the weekend.

While that is probably music to the ears of all Town followers, York still possess plenty of firepower in attack so punters latching on to the visitors to come back from Yorkshire with all three points should still be wary.

Once again our official bookmaker bet365 has seen a flood of money for the Hatters to rack up win number 10 on the road this season.

On Monday, Richard Money's side were a 2/1 shot, while York were as short as 11/8. Fast-forward 24 hours and it's a big closer now with the Town 13/8 and City at 17/10.

If you fancy a bet tonight then you are spoilt for choice: there are 23 different markets and hundreds of individual odds to choose from.

Backers of both teams will rarely get the chance to back their side at such high odds against all season with either side almost always an odds-on shot when playing at home and just as short odds against when going away from home.

Click here for all the match odds - you'll find the markets under the 'Soccer' section in the left-hand sports menu.

As always there is a plethora of punts available to fans who fancy a flutter on the Hatters' tonight.

So first things first. How about the correct score? How about 1-0 to the Town? Three of the Town's last four away wins have been by that scoreline and it's a very decent 13/2 chance for it to happen again. You could always get greedy and back a 3-0 win at a humongous 33/1.

Ok, so how about on the goal front. How about Liam Hatch, he should be back in the side tonight after missing the win at Eastbourne. He's 13/2 to score the first or last goal this evening. Again, very tempting odds on the warrior. Would you bet against that happening? Elsewhere, I guess we should give a mention to Keith Keane. While there are no specific odds on him scoring a match-winning goal direct from a corner on the 96th minute, he's 22/1 to score the first or last goal this evening.

Or, how about chancing your arm with a scorecast? What about Tom Craddock - he's due a goal - together with a 2-0 win? No odds were available at the time we launched this story so keep an eye on bet365 in the run up to kick-off.
