Les Sealey

Character and a gentleman: the great Les Sealey
Although born in the east end of London, Sealey made a name for himself as a fearless goalkeeper at Coventry before moving to Luton in 1983 for £100,000 where he became the regular number one during the glory years of the mid to late 1980's.
A good shot stopper, brave and an excellent organiser of his defence, Sealey commanded respect from his team mates due to his sheer professionalism. He was also a larger than life character who could always be relied upon to lift the spirits of the players in the changing room.
Unfortunate to get injured in the week before the Littlewoods Cup final win over Arsenal in 1988, he nevertheless took his place in goal for the Town in the final against Forest 12 months later.
After losing his place to Alec Chamberlain, Sealey went to Manchester United, where he won both an FA Cup winners medal as well as Cup-winners Cup medal to make up for the disappointment of missing out at Luton in 1988.
