PILKS' PREVIEW

Posted on: Sat 17 Apr 2010

After a disappointing and frustrating draw at Tamworth a week ago we bounced back to winning ways with a positive performance and result against Histon on Tuesday.

Our form over the past 12 matches has been fantastic but we know that it still might not be enough to earn the Championship but still it gives us a perfect platform to build on should our season be extended after next Saturday.

Rest assured that we will keep striving to get as many points to keep the pressure on until it's mathematically impossible to Stevenage.

Tuesday was another fantastic attacking performance as we continue our hot streak in front of goal, especially at Kenilworth Road.

However, we were a little bit annoyed to concede three silly goals and as a defender I will admit that perhaps we dropped our concentration levels slightly.

It has acted as a bit of wake-up call though and we know that we must not take things for granted at this level.

We might be scoring goals for fun at one end but, as we all know, you need to defend properly at the other end or you are likely to get punished.

It seems a while ago since we met Altrincham up at Moss Lane in October. It was a tough game up there that we managed to come away with three points from and I envisage it will be another difficult match this afternoon.

Like all teams in this division, they all possess different threats but as ever we know that the way we are playing at the minute we should fear nobody but by the same token, as I have previously mentioned, we should take nothing for granted and not get lacklustre like we did against Histon.

With strikers bang in-form and competition for places fierce as ever, there is a real buzz around the place.

As a defender it has been a right job getting to grips with our strikers in training and that has its own self-fulfilling aspects: trying to keep them quiet makes you better at your job and visa-verca.

It's up to us to continue to deliver the same level performances between now and the end of the season if we're to be successful. With determination and confidence and your support then there's no reason why that cannot become a reality.

Your support is massive. You are the 12th man. Please keep it up.

Enjoy the game.

Pilks.
