The Hatters made it 12 games without defeat in the league keeping the pressure on leaders Stevenage and with the final games of the season now upon us Jake Howells is looking for a strong finish.
The 18-year-old wide man scored a double against Histon on Tuesday in the latest Blue Square Premier fixture and, despite not grabbing a hat-trick, he was still pleased his hard work is finally paying off.
"It's been amazing for me the last few months," Howells said. "I've been training well all year and to finally take it out into games is a good feeling for me. Hopefully I can keep it going until the end of the season.
"My direct play as a winger has improved - getting crosses in and also scoring goals which I now have six of for the season.
"I tried to get the penalty off Tommy but he wouldn't let me have it. He's taken penalties all season so fair play to him on getting his hat-trick, I'll hopefully get one for us one day."
Howells, who celebrates his 19th birthday next week, puts down the Hatters' work-rate in games as the key to why they have been scoring so many games of late.
"The whole team is working hard collectively and things are just clicking on the pitch," the number 15 said.
"Everyone is getting on the score sheet at the moment. It seems that every shot we have is going in which is great. We've got good enough players to keep this high scoring run going to help us finish strong."
He believes the team's form will continue in the remaining fixtures of the season which might be enough to clinch the title.
"We will certainly not be giving up on the title," Howells explains. "If Stevenage don't slip up that will be great for them but we will try and make it as tough as possible for them by keeping the pressure firmly on them.
"I can't see us faulting in any way at the moment. As a team we are playing really well and will be looking for a very strong finish."
